For dads preparing for a second birth - and the partners who want them ready

You know exactly what went wrong last time. This time, you'll know exactly what to do.

The Steady Partner Guide gives you the 5 shifts that turn what you learned the hard way into calm, confident action - so you're leading the room this time, not frozen on the sidelines of it.

"It adds a whole new layer on top of a standard birth plan. Instead of just waiting for the hospital staff to give you direction, this framework lets you step up, lead the room, and lead the team."

If you're the one reading this

You remember what the last birth took out of both of you. Maybe you've already tried to explain what you needed from him - and it didn't quite land. This guide says it in a way that does: five shifts he can actually use, not more information he has to translate into action under pressure.

"Matt was incredible throughout labour and really got me through it all. We both felt so ready for baby's arrival, and we've been able to work as such a team since - making sure we're both getting the rest and recovery we need."

Many dads walk into a second pregnancy carrying memories of what went wrong the first time.

The uncertainty. The fear. The feeling of not knowing how to help.

This guide shows you exactly where your greatest influence lies - so this time, you're not just hoping it goes better. You're prepared to make it go better.

This is for you if:

You don't want to feel helpless when your partner needs you most

You'd love to learn how to bring calm instead of stress into hard moments

You want to avoid the common mistakes many dads make without realising

You want to know exactly how to support your partner during pregnancy and birth

You're ready to give yourself the best chance of looking back knowing you showed up when it mattered most

You're both ready for this birth to look different than the last one

"I’m noticing minor stress triggers in my body so much quicker now. Being able to mentally step back from the chaos and reset using these tools is going to be massive during labour."

"The language is so non-confrontational. Phrasing things from a place of curiosity rather than dropping defensive statements gets the medical staff on your side instantly. It completely changes the room."

"...documentation and discussing these exact scenarios gives you a rock-solid mental framework. I am walking into that hospital completely confident that my partner and I are on the same page."

Matt, Doula Dad Graduate

"Before doing this work, my default instinct would have been a rigid, logical 'fix-it' approach that completely disregarded the emotional side of what my partner was experiencing. This program completely shifted my mindset to focus on co-regulation, connection, and reassurance first."

Noah, Doula Dad Graduate

"He's always been calm and good at helping me relax when I'm anxious - but now he's more confident. He knows exactly what to say, not just how to be there. It's so reassuring knowing he's had these sessions - I feel so much more prepared for labour, birth, and postpartum."

This work is personal for me

Hi, I’m Nick, a birth partner coach, husband, and father of three. But more importantly, I’ve been in the birth room myself — experiencing both the moments I’m proud of and the moments I wish I could do differently.

During the birth of our first child, I saw firsthand how much impact a birth partner can have. There were moments where all the preparation my wife and I had done made a real difference. I was calm, present, and supportive, and I could see the positive effect it had on her and our baby.

But there were other moments that taught me a much harder lesson.

Near the end of labour, things became more intense and uncertain. I knew the evidence. I understood the importance of movement, informed consent, and advocating when something didn’t feel right. I knew my wife had options. And I knew part of my role was to help protect the birth space and support her decision-making.

But when the pressure rose, I froze.

I didn’t ask questions. I didn’t slow things down. I didn’t speak up.

That experience taught me something I’ll never forget: knowledge alone isn’t enough. Birth partners need more than information. They need confidence, practical tools, and the ability to stay steady when things feel overwhelming.

That’s why I created Doula Dad — to help dads become calm, prepared, and confident birth partners who know how to support their partner when it matters most.

If you're heading into a second birth carrying the weight of the first, I built this for you.

What's inside

Who am I? (Identity & Ownership) - Stop waiting to be told what to do. Know exactly what role you're stepping into before you walk in the door.

How do I regulate myself? (Emotional Mastery) - The tools to stay steady and connected when things get intense, instead of freezing or shutting down.

How do I interact effectively with others? (Advocacy & Influence) - How to speak up to hospital staff - firmly, calmly, without it turning into a confrontation.

How do I actually execute in the moment? (Tactical Competence) - What to actually do with your hands, your words, and your presence when labour intensifies.

Who do I become after this? (Integration & Fatherhood) - How this moment shapes the father you become next - not just getting through birth, but carrying it forward.

"Matt was incredible throughout labour and really got me through it all. We both felt so ready for baby's arrival, and we've been able to work as such a team since - making sure we're both getting the rest and recovery we need."
